Become Possessed: My little brother
On paper at least, my little brother is what most men, most people really, aspire to be. He’s got a robust social life, a lucrative and demanding vocation, fulfilling hobbies, and people who love him. He’s also quite handsome (the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree).
To the naked eye, he’s one of those people who has seemingly been gifted by the gods… he has… but not in the traditional way you’re thinking. My little bro has a gift that’s given him an edge over most of the population: he knows how to work. He knows how to work hard. He knows how to work for the things he wants. He doesn’t bitch and complain, he just does.
In fact, things haven’t come easy to him. Not at all. Probably the opposite — but he’s learned how to force his will on the world. He’s made it so — and its paid off. The kid sets his sights and shoots past the target.
There’s so much to learn from people like him. People who know what they want, people who know how to get what they want.
“They say intelligence is just whether or not you get what you want out of life”

He recently shared a line with me that embodies who he is… his work ethic… a line that portrays how the kid thinks and why he seemingly gets everything he wants.
“Why not go out on a limb, isn’t that where the fruit is?”
Good point brother. Everything you want is outside of the little box you’ve built in your mind. It’s out of your comfort zone. The body you want. The career you want. The relationship you want. The vacations you wish to go on. The family you wish to have.
You gotta reach. You gotta get out there. You gotta get in there. No one’s ever been ready to have a kid, but I bet almost 100% of people would tell you that raising their children is the best thing they’ve ever done. People who run marathons are damn proud of it, but I bet they weren’t sure when they started.
Most of the best things in life come from choices and decisions that make you a little nervous. That stretch you out. That are not comfortable.
The fruit isn’t by the trunk, it’s out on the limb.
Climb out there and get it.
Thanks for reading and as always, godspeed.
